Discover Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana

When it comes to dining in Salvador, few places stand out like Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana. Located at R. da Conceição da Praia, 1294-1490 in the heart of Comércio, this charming eatery combines local flavors with a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s a spot that makes you feel right at home, whether you're a local or a traveler discovering the vibrant cuisine of Bahia for the first time.

Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing that strikes you is the blend of traditional Bahian elements and modern touches in the décor. The ambiance is casual but well-thought-out, with colorful artwork adorning the walls, reflecting the culture and spirit of Salvador. The staff greets you with genuine hospitality, making it clear that service is a top priority here. It’s easy to tell that the people behind Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana are not just serving food; they’re sharing a piece of Salvador’s soul with every dish.

The menu at Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana offers an array of mouthwatering options that highlight the best of Bahian and Brazilian cuisine. From the traditional moqueca (a flavorful fish stew made with coconut milk, palm oil, and a blend of spices) to the savory acarajé (fried bean cakes filled with shrimp), every dish feels like a celebration of local ingredients. One must-try is the bobó de camarão, a shrimp dish made with manioc, coconut milk, and the distinct flavors of Bahia’s rich seasoning. The balance of textures and flavors in this dish alone is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and quality.

But what sets Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana apart from other restaurants in Salvador isn’t just the food-it’s the consistency and the experience that come with every meal. I’ve been to the restaurant on multiple occasions, and every time, the dishes are prepared with the same care and attention to detail. Whether it’s a slow weekday lunch or a busy weekend evening, the food always arrives hot and freshly prepared, and the flavors remain just as delightful.

If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, the salads and appetizers at Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana are perfect starters. The fresh seafood ceviche is especially refreshing, with just the right amount of citrus and spice. The kitchen’s use of local ingredients, like tropical fruits and fresh herbs, adds a unique twist to classic recipes, making every bite an exciting experience.

As for drinks, the restaurant offers a variety of refreshing cocktails, perfect for pairing with a relaxing meal. The caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, is a must-try here, expertly crafted with fresh lime, sugar, and cachaça. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the flavorful dishes, and one of the best ways to cool down on a warm Salvador afternoon.

For those who enjoy a relaxed dining experience, Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana also offers a cozy outdoor seating area. The view of the lively Comércio neighborhood, with its bustling streets and colorful buildings, adds to the charm of the dining experience. It’s easy to spend hours here, enjoying delicious food, refreshing drinks, and the company of friends or family.

Customer reviews of Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana consistently highlight the quality of the food and the friendly, attentive service. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place where locals gather and visitors experience the flavors of Bahia in their purest form. It’s rare to find such a gem, where the food feels personal and the atmosphere welcoming.

Whether you’re craving something traditional or looking to explore a new flavor, Ré Restaurante Dona Suzana in Comércio is a must-visit destination. It’s not just about eating; it’s about enjoying the experience, the culture, and the people of Salvador. So, the next time you’re in the area, make sure to stop by and savor a meal that’s as vibrant and full of life as the city itself.

  • While we enjoyed the food, it wasn't the best moqueca we had during the trip, and we believe that the quality has declined due to the rise in popularity following the Netflix Street Food feature. To get there, you need to walk through the neighborhood and follow the signs. This was a truly interesting experience, as there are many other restaurants, bars, and shops alongside people's homes.

  • Delicious food and spectacular location! The moqueca can actually feed two people and the mixed one three. Best spot to try local fresh fish and enjoy the sea

  • Authentic Salvadorian food accompanied by the best sea views and live music next door! Food portions are extremely generous and are all accompanied by rice, beans and tapioca flour. Seafood stew dish is well cooked, though a bit mild for my personal taste. Drinks options are limited but not a deal breaker. The only downside is that the Mixed seafood stew is only available for 2 pax.

  • Amazing view paired with great seafood! It is like 8 minutes walk from the street when you can go by car. There are only a few tables there so we didn't have to wait, except for a table right next to the water.

  • After watching the Netflix show, we wanted to visit the restaurant to see if it was as good as it seemed. It was definitely worth it. The restaurant is located in a cute little kind of favela neighborhood by the sea, with a lot of cool street art and with an incredible view. We ordered the shrimp moqueca and we absolutely loved it, it was incredibly tasty. For reference, we paid 70 reais for it and it was for 2 people, which I found it reasonable as it was a huge portion. It’s by far the best spot we found in Salvador and I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the authentic food from Bahia.

  • Over rated & over priced . Mixed pot only have shrimps and fish. Drinks tasteless.

  • Best Moqueca de camarão I’ve had so far! Nice view, friendly staff and I also had a good Caipirinha, for which the waiting time was quite long tho because I think they are getting the cocktails from another place. Still a must-visit in Salvador! PS: the portions are definitely sufficient for 2 persons
